Trustee Carlos Elizondo questioned why district specialists could not be trained to deliver the same supports, arguing for internal capacity building rather than contracting outside consultants. Supporters said the contracted coaching would be intensive, short‑term and designed to leave district staff with sustainable practices. Trustee Frank Ortiz voted against the motion; the remainder of the board voted to approve the contract.
