City staff preview public hearing on Park & Rec Plan and upcoming FEMA/DOE flood-mapping meeting

Contract Planner Kurt Danison updated the commission on two upcoming, citywide items. He said the City Council will hold a public hearing on the updated Park and Recreation Plan at its March 16, 2026 meeting; staff began updating the plan in June of the prior year and reported few substantive changes since the last update approximately six years earlier.
Danison said staff plan to develop a standard sign template for parks and that survey results ranked opening the levy trail and increasing river access as higher-priority items. He also announced, "On March 18, 2026, FEMA and DOE will be at Omak City Hall to discuss the new flood mapping and insurance," an event staff said could have relevance for critical-area mapping and local insurance considerations.
