Canton ISD highlights extracurricular advances, testing dates and recent athletics results

At the Nov. 22 meeting Dr. Brian Nichols reviewed recent student activities and upcoming district events. He told the board the FFA Agricultural Advocacy Team placed first in the Area 6 LDE competition on Nov. 19, 2024 and will advance to the state competition on Dec. 6–7, 2024. Two students advanced in All‑State choir auditions and two advanced to state in chess; specific student names (Ella Goodson, Carolina Kroha, Willow Cavitt, Caroline Kroha) were listed in the minutes.
Nichols also reported that football season concluded with a Nov. 15, 2024 loss to Farmersville and outlined upcoming athletic games on Nov. 25–26, 2024. The district's EOC testing dates are set for Dec. 3–5, 2024 and the FFA Dinner and Auction is scheduled for Dec. 5, 2024.
