Canton ISD details multi‑purpose facility timeline, bond phase II bids and $150,000 security fencing grant

He said Berry and Clay received permit approval to begin Phase I of a district multi‑purpose facility with a start date of Dec. 2, 2024 and an estimated completion date in 2026. The Phase II bond bid package is posted on the Canton ISD website with a pre‑bid meeting on Dec. 3, 2024 and a bid date of Dec. 12, 2024.
Nichols also reported that Canton ISD applied for and was awarded a $150,000 grant to fund a six‑foot anti‑climb perimeter fence and access‑control gate; a bid package for that project has been posted and a pre‑bid meeting is scheduled for Dec. 4, 2024. He told the board that turf installation is underway on the baseball and softball fields and that AC work at Canton High School is planned for the Christmas break. The new district school bus was delivered Nov. 11, 2024.
