The Brenham Independent School District board opened its regular meeting with several recognitions highlighting student behavior and staff contributions. Director of transportation Brian Gibson said the district’s Education Foundation funded a program with Book Nook gift cards to reward students who model safe, rule-following behavior on the bus; “we have rewarded 20 students,” he said, and added the program will recognize about 40 more students over the next four weeks.
Melissa Bunker, principal of the Early Childhood Learning Center, presented her campus’s teacher and student awards and praised staff for running a successful Black History program. Bunker named Lenny Morales as student of the month and Kiki Kiana Wade Smith and Constance Lester as paraprofessional and teacher of the month, respectively, and thanked the campus community for their efforts.
