Burleson ISD named CTE District of Distinction; students honored for Esports wins

Burleson ISD was named one of 38 CTE Districts of Distinction by CTAT; the district reported 932 student certifications last year and that 64% of practicum students intern at over 100 local businesses. Several students were recognized for first-place finishes at BISD Esports invitationals.
District leaders announced that Burleson ISD received the Career and Technical Education (CTE) District of Distinction award from the Career & Technical Association of Texas (CTAT), one of 38 districts honored statewide. Dr. Lindsey Byrd and Mrs. Randi Woolsey reported that BISD students earned 932 certifications last school year and that 64% of practicum students intern at more than 100 local businesses.
Separately, the board recognized student winners from BISD esports fall and winter invitationals. Nathan Tollison and Dr. Mikala Hill introduced students who placed first in events including Smash Ultimate, Mario Kart, Rocket League and Fortnite. The board and staff highlighted the Game Development Design School (GDDS) in a short video.
