The Burleson Independent School District Board of Trustees voted unanimously Dec. 9 to cast the district's votes for candidates to local appraisal-district boards. Trustee Michael Ancy moved that the board "cast 214 to John Wood and 500 votes for Brannon Potts for the Johnson County Central Appraisal District Board," a motion seconded by Trustee Shawn Minor and approved by all present trustees.
The action followed a public-comment period in which multiple residents addressed the board in favor of the JCCAD candidates. Speakers who spoke during open forum included Brannon Potts, Fernando Rodriguez, Debbie Prater, Craig Hundley, Duaine Goulding, Helen Kerwin, Tina White, Douglas Hantzle, Greg Cooper and Fonzy Bustillos; several explicitly urged support for John Wood (also listed as "John Woods" in parts of the transcript) and Brannon Potts. Trustee Michael Ancy moved separately, and trustees approved, casting 26 votes for Fred Campos for the Tarrant Appraisal District.
Board President Jerri McNair presided over the meeting, and the vote records list all seven trustees (Ancy, Eisner, McNair, Minor, Owen, Richardson and Worrell) as voting "yea." The meeting minutes record the motions and unanimous tallies; the board did not record any nays or abstentions.
