The Chapel Hill ISD Board approved revisions to Policy DC (Local) to delegate hiring authority to the Superintendent during the summer period to streamline contractual personnel employment.
Superintendent Lamond Dean explained that recent legislative changes and operational needs have complicated summer hiring when board schedules do not align with staffing needs. The revised policy delegates authority to the Superintendent to employ contractual personnel from the day following the May board meeting through the adjournment of the August board meeting; any employment actions taken under that authority must be reported to the board at the next scheduled meeting.
The board voted 5-0 to adopt the revisions; administration will follow up with reporting on any hires completed under the delegated authority.
