A representative of the Harris County Fire Marshal presented a certificate to district staff Robert Laird and Cynthia Benitez at the Nov. 18 meeting, praising Channelview ISD for maintaining a safe learning environment and saying the district’s safety processes will serve as a model for other districts. The Fire Marshal noted Channelview’s collaborative approach to safety and the district’s willingness to partner on best practices.
Separately, Cynthia Benitez reported the district participated in an Intruder Detection Audit conducted by the Texas School Safety Center. Benitez said specific findings were reviewed in executive session and with the School Safety & Security Committee; the report was presented for informational follow-up rather than immediate board action.
