At its Nov. 18 regular meeting, the Channelview Independent School District Board of Trustees completed its annual reorganization and elected board officers for the coming year. Shumona Collins nominated Alex Ybarra for Board President, a motion seconded by Ramiro Granados; the board approved the nomination 6–0. Ramiro Granados was elected Vice President, Hector Martinez was elected Secretary, and Collins was elected Parliamentarian by the same unanimous margin.
The reorganization motions were procedural and passed without recorded opposition. The board followed standard motion-and-second procedure for each officer nomination and confirmed each position by vote, allowing the district to proceed with the business portion of the meeting under its newly confirmed leadership.
