Channelview ISD provides update on Outdoor Learning Center construction and next steps

LaKeisha LeBlanc told trustees that the Outdoor Learning Center, supported by the Jacob and Terese Hershey Foundation, is under construction and moving through site-preparation steps. The next tasks include land clearing, installation of a nature trail and pedestrian bridge, removal of invasive species, and planting of trees, shrubs and aquatic plants.
LeBlanc said the project team will continue committee planning and invited community volunteers to assist with planting and site work. She also noted plans for a ribbon-cutting ceremony and for establishing a long-term maintenance partnership; the update was informational and did not require Board action at the Sept. 16 meeting.
