Channelview ISD unveils LEAP leadership pipeline to grow district leaders from within

LaKeisha LeBlanc described the Leadership Excellence Advancement Program (LEAP) on Sept. 16 as a multi-pathway initiative to cultivate school and district leaders from within Channelview ISD. LEAP includes targeted pathways for aspiring global leaders, principals and executive leadership, assistant principals, instructional leaders and teachers, and incorporates mentorship, internships, workshops, networking opportunities and a capstone experience.
LeBlanc said several past program participants have already been promoted into leadership roles, which she cited as evidence of the program's effectiveness. The district framed LEAP as part of Strategic Goal 6 to reduce turnover and build internal capacity; no Board action was required during the presentation.
