Cardigan State Forest, approximately two-thirds of which lies within town boundaries, the town could be responsible for one-quarter of one percent of its valuation, calculated at about $180,763 — an expense described in the minutes as potentially cost-prohibitive for the town.
Chair Samara Pitre said she has shared the information with Orange State Representative Donald McFarlane and the issue is on hold until the Legislature returns to session. The board did not take immediate action and noted the matter will await legislative developments.
