The Board of Trustees of Big Spring ISD certified the canvass of the May 2, 2026 trustee election at its May 11 meeting and completed post-election procedures. A motion by Bert Otto to certify the returns was seconded by Jesse Salazar and carried (vote recorded 5-0 in the minutes).
District election official Melissa Tarbet issued Certificates of Election and administered the oath of office to Ashley Brown and Michele Sanchez, who took their seats on the board during the meeting. The certification and swearing-in were recorded in the official minutes and enabled the newly elected trustees to participate in officer elections later in the same meeting.
