Big Spring ISD trustees elect Fabian Serrano president in 5-2 vote

The board also confirmed Bert Otto as vice president and Tonya Becker as secretary; both motions carried unanimously, 7-0. Superintendent Jay McWilliams opened nominations and presided over the organization portion of the meeting. The board recognized outgoing trustees Julie Harris, who served 11 years, and Tom Olague, who served nine years, following the consent agenda.
The officer elections follow the certification and seating of newly elected trustees Ashley Brown and Michele Sanchez earlier in the meeting. The board will continue routine organization duties at future meetings as needed.
