The Chapel Hill ISD Board approved the personnel packet and voted to direct the superintendent to notify the State Board for Educator Certification (SBEC) that the board requests sanctions against employee Ashley Cruz’s certificate. President Les Schminkey moved the action, which passed on a recorded vote of Yea 6, Nay 0, Absent 1.
In making the motion, the board recorded findings: the employee’s resignation request had not been accepted, the board determined the resignation did not meet the “good cause” standards in Texas Education Code Sections 21.210(a) or (b), and the board found the employee’s first missed day without permission was Jan. 28, 2026, which the board identified as the employee’s effective separation date. The motion and those findings were adopted as the board’s record to accompany correspondence to SBEC.
