Chapel Hill ISD trustees voted to approve a plan delaying full implementation of teacher certification requirements until the 2029–2030 school year. The motion, made by Rickey Mosley and seconded by Hershal Massenburge, passed unanimously among members present (Yea 6, Nay 0, Absent 1).
Deidra Sutton, Executive Director of Human Resources and Student Services, said the plan is intended to comply with Texas Education Code §21.0032 and House Bill 2 and emphasized that the district remains committed to ensuring that teachers of record for foundation curriculum courses hold appropriate certification by the start of the 2029–2030 school year.
