The Chapel Hill ISD Board voted to approve the district’s 2026–27 academic school calendar following a presentation by Josh Tremont, Executive Director of Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment. The motion, made by Dr. Amy Hayes and seconded by Martin Ibarra, passed with a recorded vote of Yea 6, Nay 0, Absent 1.
Tremont told trustees the calendar was developed in accordance with state guidelines and District of Innovation requirements. Planning considered instructional days, staff development, state assessments, spring break, early-release days and inclement weather make-up days. He said input was obtained via a stakeholder survey and a Calendar Committee meeting on Dec. 4, 2025, and that the District Education Improvement Committee unanimously approved the proposed calendar on Jan. 29, 2026.
