The City Council unanimously approved Ordinance 24-1700 to amend the Comprehensive Plan and rezone a city-owned parcel from RM-2 (Residential Multi-family) to Public Use (PU) to facilitate Schoolvard Park improvements. The Parks Department plans a pavilion and entry structure with long-term goals of adding a playground and other amenities, and the PU zoning provides setbacks and building-height allowances suited to those facilities.
Planning and technical reviews recommended approval; Mayor Korthuis opened and closed a public hearing with no comments and the council voted 7-0 to adopt the ordinance effective Jan. 1, 2025.
