On the consent agenda, the Lynden City Council approved Resolution 24-1113 to update ambulance service fees to remain compliant with the state's Substitute Senate Bill 5986 (SSB5986), effective Jan. 1, 2025. The resolution replaces the prior October–October CPI-U reference with an August–August CPI-U for the Seattle/Tacoma/Bellevue area and includes updated BLS transport base rates and mileage for calendar year 2025.
The change responds to a recent legislative directive requiring local governments to submit updated ground ambulance rates to the Washington State Office of the Insurance Commissioner (OIC). The consent agenda containing the resolution was approved on a 6-0 vote before Councilor Lenssen arrived.
