Council approved a Council-voted increase in the utility occupation tax to 4%, added required interfund loan payments, included a 0.1% Transportation Benefit District (TBD) increase effective April 1, and moved the final payment for a Quint fire truck into 2026.
Council discussed additional adjustments incorporated since the preliminary budget, including reimbursement of TBD-eligible projects to the General Fund, removal of some janitorial and maintenance contracts to be performed in-house, and the city's engagement with the Washington State Shared Work program that identified employees affected by furloughs or reduced hours. Councilor Kyle Strengholt moved and Councilor Gary Vis seconded to approve Ordinance 24-1695; the motion passed 7-0. The ordinance implements the budget changes and authorizes the Mayor to sign.
