Police report: 24 calls in March; fire department receives $22,000 Ho-Chunk grant

Police Chief Jeremy Bonikowske told the board the department handled 24 calls for service in March, including 10 traffic stops and 4 citations. He said the Juneau County Sheriff’s Office had 35 calls that included extra patrol building checks and civil process service in the village. Chief Bonikowske noted the village received a Lexipol invoice that the village will be reimbursed 100% for by the League of Wisconsin Municipalities and reported an $820 quote to undercoat a squad vehicle to reduce rust accumulation. He also reported that a Rose Street property received a second attorney letter to address remaining code issues; compliance will be verified and abatement pursued if needed.
Fire Chief Troy Madland reported seven calls in March and 271 year-to-date department hours compared with 303 hours at the same point last year. Chief Madland said the Fire Department received a Ho-Chunk grant for $22,000, and that the old command truck is being decommissioned and will be put up for sale once decommissioning is complete.
