Flour Bluff awards $6.7M junior-high MEP contract and other major construction work

The Flour Bluff ISD Board of Trustees approved multiple major construction and facilities contracts at its Feb. 26 meeting. The largest single award was the Junior High Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing renovation contract to Weaver and Jacobs Constructors, Inc., at a price not to exceed $6,713,000.00. The administration recommended the award and the board approved it 6–0.
Other facilities-related approvals included awarding Third Coast Controls, LLC $2,274,850 for a district-wide Building Automation System replacement, Malek, Inc. for district-wide HVAC replacements ($549,296), Hellas Construction, Inc. to resurface the junior high track ($316,000), and a Buy Board cooperative proposal with Musco Sports Lighting to retrofit sports lighting poles with LED fixtures for $829,000. "The administration recommends the Board of Trustees approve Third Coast Controls, LLC for the FBISD District-Wide Building Automation System (BAS) Replacement for a total cost of $2,274,850.00," the meeting record states. All awards were approved unanimously.
District staff said several of the items are funded through the 2025 Bond Program or cooperative purchasing agreements; a resolution adopted at the meeting also delegates limited change-order authority to the Superintendent for bond projects up to $250,000.
