The Flour Bluff ISD Board of Trustees approved a library materials challenge on Jan. 29 that removes The Summer of Jordi Perez by Amy Spalding from Flour Bluff Junior High School’s circulation. The motion to approve the library materials challenge was made by Trustee Jeanie Blankenship-Paluseo, seconded by Dr. James Needham, and passed 6–0.
Earlier in the meeting the board also approved a separate proposed list of library materials for district libraries as part of the consent/ action items. The minutes list the recommendation from administration and record the unanimous board vote; the minutes do not include the text of the challenge or the rationale provided by the challenger.
