Superintendent/administration presented preliminary STAAR (state assessment) results and characterized the district's performance as strong relative to state averages.
Mr. Sodek told trustees "the district performed very well" and emphasized the next phase will focus on growth measures, noting third graders do not receive 'growth' calculations in their first year of testing. Trustees Tim Rowell and LaVerne Dornak praised students and staff for the results.
Administration said the state will move to a new testing system after one more year of STAAR; the district plans to emphasize 'teaching to mastery' to continue student progress.
