Trustees approved a four-month fuel-purchase agreement through the TASB Energy Cooperative to lock fuel prices for the coming months, citing volatile market conditions.
Chris Sodek told the board the cooperative usually sells a one-year contract but this year is offering a four-month term because of the current economic volatility. "Blanca Villanueva moves the Board to Approve the TASB Energy COOP Fuel Pool Purchase Agreement as presented," the record shows. Blanca Villanueva seconded the motion and the board voted 5-0 in favor.
The administration said a new agreement could be offered before this short-term contract expires; trustees did not discuss alternate vendors at the meeting. The vote was procedural and recorded as unanimous: President Tim Rowell, Jessica Morrill, LaVerne Dornak, Christina Manzano and Blanca Villanueva voted yea.
