ADAMHS board: interim director named, retired judge to lead director search; OneOhio award distribution discussed

At 11:30 a.m. Feb. 19 the commissioners met with ADAMHS representative Precia Stuby and staff to discuss operational and governance matters. Stuby said ADAMHS occupies former Probate space while renovations proceed and expects renovations to finish mid-May so the board can leave the former Probate building in June 2026. She discussed an upcoming board appointment focusing on mental health and said retired Judge Niemeyer is leading the search for a director to replace her; she also thanked the commissioners as she prepares for retirement.
Stuby and meeting notes recorded that Jennifer Swartzlander was named interim director at the most recent ADAMHS board meeting. The board and ADAMHS reviewed distribution plans for a $150,000 OneOhio award: the commissioners proposed allocating $75,000 to the Public Defender's Project and splitting the balance equally between prevention services in county schools and The Steady Path. Phil Johnson was referenced as drafting a memorandum of understanding for temporary occupancy of the Juvenile Court Building related to capital projects discussed by ADAMHS.
