Fabens ISD pauses forensic-audit RFQ after debate over scope and outreach

The administration said the RFQ as written was a full-audit package but offered options to divide by component or pause. "The original RFQ was for the forensic audit, which was a total, a total RFQ for different areas of finance," administration said when introducing the item.
Trustees questioned how the RFQ had been promoted, noting previous notices had been limited to a compliance posting in a small paper and urging broader outreach (website, El Paso Inc., El Paso Times) and direct calls to firms. Several trustees said no firms had responded to the earlier posting. A trustee moved to pause the RFQ to allow further committee consideration and improved outreach; another seconded, and the board voted to pause the RFQ so administration can bring a revised approach back to the board if needed.
