Fabens ISD Honors Students, Coaches and Staff at May Board Meeting

Fabens ISD used its May 20 board meeting to recognize a range of student and staff accomplishments across academics, arts, athletics and student leadership.
The board recognized school nurses, medical assistants, and LVNs in observance of School Nurses Month. Fabens High School Student Council received Sweepstakes Council recognition from the Texas Association of Student Councils for the 2025–2026 year; the minutes note that 280 schools statewide earned the distinction. Student achievements in UIL competitions included first-place finishes in Accounting and Calculator Applications and multiple top placements in Mathematics, Physics, Spelling and Feature Writing; Jada Reyes advanced from regionals and competed at the UIL State Competition on May 18, 2026.
Arts and extracurricular achievements were also highlighted: the Fabens Mariachis 'Los Gatos Salvajes' won 1st place in the TAME emerging group competition, and Fabens engineering students presented capstone rocket projects that included a Tsiolkovsky launch and Oberth rocket design reviewed by a NASA engineer. Athletic programs — baseball, tennis and track — were acknowledged and certificates handed out to participating athletes and coaches.
