During a special meeting on Aug. 8, 2024, the Fort Sam Houston ISD Board took disciplinary action in a personnel matter involving a contract employee. The Board voted to refuse acceptance of the resignation submitted by Natalie Garza, to find that she had abandoned her contract without good cause in violation of state law and district policy, and to report the matter to the State Board for Educator Certification (SBEC) for potential sanctions. The motion was made by Secretary Dr. LaToya E. Sizer and seconded by Vice President COL(R) Aaron Braxton II and passed unanimously.
The special meeting minutes record the motion in full. The action follows closed-session deliberations conducted under Texas Government Code §551.074 and public action upon returning to open session. The minutes indicate the Board’s finding and the referral; those actions initiate the licensing-reporting process with SBEC and any follow-up procedures required by state law and district policy.
