The Fort Sam Houston ISD Board unanimously approved a districtwide Compensation Plan for the 2024–25 school year at its July 30 meeting. The plan includes scale revisions intended to improve market competitiveness with other Bexar County districts and targeted pay increases across job categories.
Assistant Superintendent Julie Novak and staff presented details showing the district’s approach to raising pay mid-points and providing increases by employee group. Presentation slides noted that "Teachers hired for 2024-2025 – minimum starting salary $59,000; increased from $58,500," and that other staff categories would receive percentage increases tied to revised mid-points (e.g., 2.0% for many certified and paraeducator roles, 3.0% for auxiliary). The motion to approve the compensation plan was made by Secretary Dr. LaToya E. Sizer and seconded by Board Member Andrea Nicholas; it passed unanimously among the four trustees present.
Board members framed the increases as necessary to recruit and retain employees in a competitive county labor market. The administration will monitor the plan’s implementation and reported adjustments to substitute rates, stipend schedules and employer contributions for TRS ActiveCare in support of overall compensation.
