Los Lunas council approves five-member Lodgers Tax Advisory Board under state composition rules

The Village of Los Lunas Board of Trustees on April 9 approved appointments to a reconstituted Lodgers Tax Advisory Board intended to advise on promoting tourism and the annual lodgers tax budget.
"We are seeking approval of the appointment of a newly reformed lodgers tax board," Ms. Victoria Archuleta told the council. She described statutory requirements for the board's composition and said the fund must generally be spent to attract visitors from outside the area, citing examples such as billboards or promotion on New Mexico Living.
Ms. Archuleta said the recommended members are Santosh Mody, Moe Patel, Teri Leahigh, Arturo Romero and Dr. Don Leach. She said staff, Vanessa Montoya (Assistant Finance Director) and Deputy Village Administrator Nancy Jo Gonzales met to develop the recommendations. Councilor Christopher Ortiz moved to approve the appointments; Councilor Gino Romero seconded and the motion carried 3–0.
The council did not discuss specific project funding at the meeting; Archuleta said the board is intended to meet quarterly to bring forward projects and long-term promotion goals.
