Committee members agreed on a near-term schedule to keep the program-of-study review on track. Staff said nominations will be collected through September, membership finalized in October, task groups convened in November and meet through March, then report back with recommendations in April.
Megan Marvellas and Sherry Grama emphasized that October is the target for guardrails and member lists so task groups can begin substantive work in November. The committee discussed having additional interim committee meetings to set expectations and provide guidance to the task groups before they begin.
The committee also noted that this advisory body will technically sunset in 2029 unless renewed; staff said one outcome of the committee’s work could be a recommendation on whether the body should continue beyond that date.
Next steps assigned to staff include issuing nomination calls, drafting guardrails for task groups, and proposing October meeting dates; task groups will return recommendations to the advisory committee in April for consideration by THECB.
