Commissioners add Shamrock Heights homebuyer project to agenda; homes planned at $200,000—$225,000

Commissioners voted unanimously to add consideration of a cooperation agreement between Fayette County and the Redevelopment Authority for the Shamrock Heights Homebuyer Development Initiative in Menallen Township. Andrew French of the Redevelopment Authority presented the item and described a partnership with Threshold Housing Development nd its self-help program.
"Homes are anticipated in the $200,000—$225,000 range and requiring mortgage qualification," French said when outlining buyer parameters. Commissioner Vince Vicites characterized the project as a positive step to increase single-family housing and future tax revenue, and Commissioner Harry Dutch Kauffman noted the program supports employed, moderate-income individuals. The board approved placing the cooperation agreement on a future agenda for formal consideration.
