Gatesville ISD signs MOU with Grace Therapy to bolster speech services

The board approved an MOU with Emily Meyer’s Grace Therapy and Educational Services to provide observations, evaluations, direct and consultative speech services, and ARD participation at $5,000 per calendar month for Aug 2024–May 2025 (payments Sep 2024–Jun 2025).
Becky Weatherford told trustees that the district has at times needed to contract outside speech pathology services due to a national shortage. She recommended approval of a memorandum of understanding with Emily Meyer of Grace Therapy and Educational Services, under which Meyer would perform observations, screenings, evaluations, write reports, provide consultative and direct speech services and attend ARD meetings. The minutes state the district would pay $5,000 per calendar month for services provided August 2024 through May 2025, with payments made September 2024 through June 2025.
The board approved the MOU in a motion by Charles Alderson, seconded by Cheyenne Kizer. The minutes note the district is not obligated to provide benefits such as health or life insurance to the contractor; no additional budget source beyond the monthly fee was specified in the minutes.
