After an executive session on personnel matters, the Gainesville ISD Board reconvened Oct. 21 and approved the hiring of recommended professional personnel for the 2024–25 school year, including Donna Dickinson (Gainesville Junior High), Naomi Quick (Edison Elementary), Sylvia Gonzales (Edison Elementary) and Taylor Smith (Head Start). The motion to approve hires carried 5–0.
Separately, the board unanimously adopted motions finding that good cause did not exist for Nancy Johnson’s and Melissa Cruson’s resignations and directed the district to notify those employees that complaints will be submitted to the State Board for Educator Certification alleging contract abandonment under Texas Administrative Code Chapter 249.17(d) and Texas Education Code Sections 21.105(c), 21.160(c) or 21.210(c).
