Hancock County commissioners reject one high bid, authorize rebid for courthouse repairs

Phil Johnson presented Resolution #96-26, saying “there was 1 bid received and it was above the acceptable amount.” The resolution authorizes rejecting all bids for repairs and improvements to the Hancock County Courthouse (specifically the Treasurer's Office) and authorizes a second solicitation after staff revises the cost estimate. Commissioner William Bateson moved to approve the resolution; Commissioner Timothy Bechtol seconded. The motion passed 3-0.
Commissioner Bechtol said Amber will contact the lone bidder and other contractors who declined to bid to refine the estimate and inform the rebid. The board did not set a new solicitation date during the meeting. The action was recorded as Resolution #96-26 and reflected in the minutes.
