Trustees choose Luis Gomez as TASB delegate; dissent from one trustee

The Edgewood Independent School District Board of Trustees voted Aug. 20, 2024 to select Trustee Luis Gomez as the district's delegate to the 2024 Texas Association of School Boards (TASB) Delegate Assembly. Trustee Dr. James Hernandez was later selected as the board's alternate.
Trustee Valdez moved instead to nominate Trustee Michael Valdez as the delegate, but that motion received no second and died. The original motion to select Trustee Gomez carried with a recorded 5-1 split; Trustee Valdez voted against. Dr. James Hernandez moved to serve as the alternate and Trustee Luis Gomez seconded; that motion also carried with a 5-1 recorded vote.
