At the Aug. 20 meeting the board approved a consent agenda that included personnel actions: new hires (Alexia Gonzalez, third grade teacher; Dr. David Hickson, computer applications teacher; Whitney Hull, paraprofessional), internal transfers, and a resignation (Sharon Bustos, effective July 24, 2025). The consent agenda was moved by Jose "Jo-Pep" Najar, seconded by Jill Raymond, and carried 6-0.
Administrators reported the district is fully staffed with no agency staff in classrooms and highlighted that Steger Primary Center added 37 new or internal staff members; Pre-K screening recorded 24 students and the Pre-K program is at capacity. Enrollment for 2025–26 was reported at 1,463 students, about 80% returning and 220 new.
