Residents urge limits on vape/gambling signage, raise fence and community-program concerns

Several residents used the meeting’s audience participation segment to raise neighborhood concerns and propose community programs. Beth Butkus asked the board to limit vape/smoke shops and gambling businesses and to remove signs from closed establishments, saying she believed such signage "hurts the image of the town." She also praised cleanup of the retention pond and recent Little League field work. Connie Lundin asked for an update on a fence installed on Cottage Grove that she said is not to code; Mayor Joyce said he would consult with staff and the village attorney and call her with an update.

James Thomas described plans for a barbeque outside his barbershop offering free food and discounted haircuts for kids and a later week of free haircuts to first responders and community workers; Administrator Seehausen said she would review his flyers and follow up. Resident Jim Hicks raised safety concerns about drivers going the wrong way on Green Street and requested alley repairs for potholes; Mayor Joyce suggested coordinating with Police Chief Smith on enforcement.
