Steger moves pop-up food distribution request to Board after organizers present insurance and schedule details

Representatives of a 501(c)(3) that has run food distributions at Parkview School said they would like to use the parking lot at 3231 Chicago Road for a pop‑up food distribution. Mayor Joyce said the group has insurance, the village has discussed conditions that items not be left overnight, and the village requested to be named as additional insured on their policy. She also noted Parkview School will be torn down in July, creating a need for an alternative distribution site.
Trustee Perchinski moved to forward the pop‑up food distribution request to the Village Board for consideration; Trustee Stewart seconded and the motion carried by voice vote. Mayor Joyce questioned whether distributed items might be expired, saying, "I would hope that we are not going to pass out rotten food to anybody." The Village Board will review the proposal and any required insurance or operational safeguards.
