GATESVILLE ISD approves OnRamps agreement with UT Austin to offer college courses to high school students

Dr. Scott Harper, Assistant Superintendent of Academics and Student Services, presented an interlocal agreement with the University of Texas at Austin's OnRamps program and recommended board approval on June 22. Harper said Gatesville High School will offer OnRamps Chemistry, U.S. History, and Biology during the 2026—7 school year and that teacher training rates and student subsidized fees remain the same as the prior year.
Harper projected about 70 students will participate in OnRamps coursework. The board approved the interlocal agreement on a motion by Charles Alderson, seconded by Emily Wuenschel; the vote was 5—6 with two trustees absent.
The OnRamps partnership enables GHS students to take dual-enrollment college-level courses through UT Austin while remaining on the high school campus; Harper framed the agreement as an academic access and college-readiness expansion for Gatesville students.
