Presenter Dr. Pollard told trustees the district "have $3,437,703 available. We would like to use the $437,703 and keep the $3 million in the account for emergencies." The projects listed included a Primary campus fire alarm system ($187,000), high school band hall carpet ($37,000), junior high classroom lighting replacement ($15,000) and junior high ceiling grid replacement ($192,000). Dr. Pollard said the district hopes bond work will come in under budget so it can reimburse the fund balance.
Board member Charles Alderson made the motion to approve the fund-balance expenditures and Emily Wuenschel seconded; the motion passed 7-0. The board recorded the vote as Charles Alderson: Yea; Charles Ament: Yea; Calvin Ford: Yea; Loyd Hopson: Yea; Cheyenne Kizer: Yea; Linda Maxwell: Yea; Emily Wuenschel: Yea.
The decision directs staff to proceed with the listed summer projects using district funds now, with a commitment to seek reimbursement from bond proceeds if those funds become available and cover the costs. The board did not set additional deadlines beyond the staff statements that work is planned for completion during the summer break.
