Architects working on FLOUR BLUFF ISD's 2025 bond program presented concept design, schedule and guiding principles for major projects, and the board discussed safety and phasing.
Connie (architect presenter) and Eric Gilbert, project manager, described three bond propositions: Proposition A (general facilities, safety, modernization including pre‑K–6 playground and traffic improvements), Proposition B (academic and career/technical education: CTE center, NJROTC expansion, fine arts classrooms, gym) and Proposition C (stadium renovations and safety improvements including additional home seating, new press box, upgraded restrooms and concessions). "The bond is focused on 3 main things...facility improvements, safety enhancements, and educational growth," a presenter said.
Lead designer Leah Vander Sanden outlined discovery and community workshops used to shape the designs, described modular lab concepts to keep spaces flexible, and noted attention to coastal conditions (construction that withstands salt air). The architects said the stadium work was prioritized to avoid conflict with football seasons, and staff confirmed safety measures will include consultation with the Texas School Safety Center and layered security design features. Trustees asked about sight lines and public visibility from nearby roads and whether shaded, low‑maintenance landscaping would be used on drought-prone sites.
Architects described next steps toward construction documents and noted that some projects are entering that phase soon; the board invited questions before moving to consent items and contract approvals.
