WRA representative David Caballero presented renderings and a projected two-year timeframe for the Groesbeck Middle School (GMS) project, showing the board conceptual plans and sequencing. Trustee discussion and comments from Craig Champion noted the district will start with new construction and proceed to renovations; planned summer work includes playground cleaning and completion, ballfield work, canopy work at H.O. Whitehurst, bus transportation work and HVAC scope, with priority items such as tennis court review and high school auditorium lights and sound.
During the facilities update trustees approved an engineer selection for the H.O. Whitehurst canopy project: a motion by Sindra McLean, seconded by Jason Milstead, approved Dudley Engineering LLC as engineer for that canopy project; the motion carried unanimously. The minutes record that middle‑school work is expected to span roughly two years and that district staff will seek quotes for auditorium carpet and audiovisual work.
