Buffalo County Sheriff Mike Osmond introduced Deputy Luke Lawton to the council as the new deputy who will assume City of Alma service duties. Osmond said the change is part of a county shift-redraw and that former Deputy Rybarczyk will move to a straight day shift in the county.
"Deputy Lawton will be starting on the City of Alma service beginning to mid-June at the latest," Sheriff Osmond told the council; he added that Deputy Rybarczyk will ride along with Lawton to show him "the ins and outs." The council recorded the introduction as informational; no formal action or hiring vote was necessary because deputies are county employees assigned to city service.
