Council approves wastewater plant chemical-addition bid, multiple construction estimates and a retaining-wall emergency declaration

The Utilities Committee reported receiving a bid from R.J. Jurowski Construction, Inc. of Whitehall, Wisconsin, for $79,446.00 to construct a chemical addition at the wastewater treatment plant. The transcript records: "Motion by Earney seconded by Brommer to approve the R.J. Jurowski Construction bid for $79.446.00. Earney voting no and Meier, Grisen, Brommer, Iberg, Mueller, and Jepsen voting yes by roll call vote." The council also authorized Foreman Wick to spend up to $7,000 on materials for the chemical-addition building and approved contractor estimates for concrete (Turnbell Masonry, $145,000), a chain-link fence (Cyrus Landscaping, $65,400), and landscaping ($56,202).
Separately, the Mayor presented an emergency declaration for Phase 2 of the 2nd Street retaining wall and the council approved the declaration by roll call. Councilors also approved a motion to investigate reallocating the fire protection charge from the general fund to sewer/water utility billing.
