Henderson ISD adopts District Improvement Plan focused on reading, math and readiness

The Henderson ISD Board of Trustees adopted the District Improvement Plan (DIP) for 2025–26 on Aug. 12 after a presentation by Dea Henry. The DIP, developed following a District Needs Assessment by the District Educational Improvement Committee, sets three primary goals: increase students on grade level in reading, increase students on grade level in math, and ensure graduates are "life and career ready."
The plan details strategies for providing quality instruction by highly qualified teachers in emotionally and physically safe environments and establishes that the DEIC will meet quarterly to assess the plan's efficacy. A motion to adopt the DIP was made by Loy Dorsey, seconded by Jean Williams, and carried unanimously, 6-0.
