Hudson ISD Adds Three Special Education Positions for 2026–27 School Year

Hudson ISD trustees approved the addition of three special education positions for the 2026–2027 school year after Director of Special Services Kelley Phillips outlined increased district needs. The requested positions are: 1) Special Education Teacher (10-month) at Bonner Elementary, 2) Special Education Teacher (10-month) at the High School, and 3) Special Education Paraprofessional (10-month) at the High School. The motion by Rusty Pitts passed 6–0.
Phillips told the board that a paraprofessional position at Bonner will be converted into a teacher position to address caseload and instructional need. The hires will be implemented in the next staffing cycle and will be reflected in the 2026–2027 staffing and budget documents presented to the board.
