Hudson ISD board approves $0.25 increase to student meal prices for 2026–27

The Hudson ISD Board of Trustees voted 6–0 on May 21 to raise full-price student lunch and breakfast rates by $0.25 for the 2026–27 school year. Ruben Robledo presented information about multi-year increases in food costs and recommended the modest increase as a measure to prevent the food service department from running a negative fund balance.
Robledo told trustees the increase would help cover food costs, repairs and purchases of major equipment; the minutes note the last student meal price increase was in 2022. The motion carried with trustees Baker, Cole, McClenny, Pitts, Slusher and Smith voting in favor; Dr. Shawn Penn was recorded as absent for the vote.
